Stalactites

Malachite from Congo, 23 carat gold leaf plating.

For this work of art, I drew my inspiration from the palaces of St. Petersburg, which was the city of my grandmother. In the 19th century the largest deposit of malachite in the world was discovered in the Urals. Blocks greater of one ton were found there. Today this deposit has been exhausted, and malachite is extracted in Congo. 

“Stalactites” was conceived as a protective piece for the home.
